The journey began in 1974 with the creation of the company Ferreira, Lda. Initially focused on wine trading and warehousing, the company was an ambitious project started by the five brothers of the Ferreira family.

Later, under the management of Joaquim Manuel Sales Ferreira, the company redirected its activity to the real estate development and construction sector, reflected in the change of name to Ferreira – Construções & Urbanizações, Lda. It was also during this time that the couple’s sons, João Miguel Ferreira, a civil engineer, and Joaquim José Ferreira, a neurologist, joined as partners, bringing new energy and complementary skills to the growth of the business.

With João Miguel taking on the role of technical director, the company consolidated its focus on technical quality and the execution of projects of significant scale and relevance. In 2003, Engitorres took another major step, transforming into a public limited company and adopting the name Engitorres – Sociedade de Construções, S.A. This moment symbolized the maturation of the business, which already stood out for its rigor and excellence in the development and construction of real estate projects.

Currently, under the Chairmanship of the Board of Directors of João Miguel Ferreira, the company has expanded its activities beyond real estate development and construction. In 2013 it entered the healthcare real estate construction sector, and more recently, in 2023, it expanded into the hospitality industry.
